Roon class armored cruisers edit

A pair of German armored cruisers built shortly after the turn of the century; both ships saw service with the German fleet during World War I; Yorck was sunk in the first major naval offensive when she struck two German mines after returning to the Heligoland Bight. Roon was eventually withdrawn to the Baltic where she saw action against the Russian Navy. It was later planned to convert the ship into a seaplane carrier, but the conversion never took place.
