All administrators are able to undelete any page that has been deleted in the last few years. We can also undelete images, although the cutoff point is more recent. There are several reasons why a page might have been deleted. Please see below under the appropriate heading.

Speedy deletion

If the deletion reason begins with a letter and number (like G3, A7, G12, etc.) or the letters CSD, then the deletion was a speedy deletion. Please go and read Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion and look for the relevant reference number. Having read that, if you still think that I was wrong to delete the page for that reason, leave me a message including the following information:

  • The exact title of the deleted page
  • The reason why you believe the deletion was not correct
  • Any references or sources to back up your claim, particularly if the deletion reason was A7

I will consider your reason and get back to you.

Proposed deletion

If the deletion reason mentions "PROD" or "proposed deletion", then you are entitled to request immediate undeletion. Please go to Wikipedia:Deletion review#Contesting_.27proposed_deletions.27 and follow the instructions. Do not make these requests on my talk page as your request will be dealt with much more quickly at the central page.

Articles/Images/etc. for deletion

If the deletion reason includes "Articles for deletion", "AFD", (or something else "for deletion"), it will link to a discussion where a consensus was formed to delete an article. In such cases, I have not taken the decision to delete the article, the community has. I carefully consider all my deletion discussion closures and do not implement a closure where I think I cannot close it fairly; therefore, I do not generally make changes to my closures afterwards.

If there was a change to the article very late in the discussion and you think I should have extended the discussion to allow for that, then please leave me a message quoting the exact name of the page that I deleted. I will review your request and will generally relist such discussions unless editors clearly took the points into account in subsequent comments.

Otherwise, if you think I have not followed the deletion process correctly, please go to Wikipedia:Deletion review and follow the instructions. If you leave a message on my talk page, I will just point you there anyway.

If the deletion reason includes WP:PUI, then the image's copyright status was in doubt for over two weeks. If you have a reason why this image can be used on Wikipedia, leave me a message including the following information:

  • The exact title of the deleted image
  • The free license, or fair use rationale, for using the image on Wikipedia
  • In the case of a free license, proof that the image is released under that license
    • If the proof is on a website, link to the website.
    • If the proof is in an email, forward the email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and contact me quoting the reference number that they send you.
    • If the proof is in some other form, then explain it.

I will consider your request and get back to you.

If the deletion reason includes WP:CP, "copyvio", "copyright", or similar words, then the page's copyright status was not compatible with Wikipedia. If you have a reason why the page's content can be used on Wikipedia, leave me a message including the following information:

  • The exact title of the deleted page
  • In the case of a text page, proof that the text is released under the GFDL
  • In the case of an image:
    • The free license, or fair use rationale, for using the image on Wikipedia
    • In the case of a free license, proof that the image is released under that license

I will consider your request and get back to you.

Other deletions

If there was some other deletion reason, please leave me a message indicating why the page should not have been deleted.
