Old Stuff

edit

Hello. I am User:TheListUpdater and I wish to be "adopted". Although I joined over a year ago and have made under 500 edits, they are mostly basic Wiki tasks (such as grammar, links, external links, redirects, and so on). I would generally like to know about more stuff in Wikipedia, such as

  • making tables
  • founding and maintaining successful WikiProjects
  • knowing exactly how to make a reference
  • exposing who exactly vandalized (like edit summaries with things like "Reverted edits by 232.323.232 on 12:23 January 12, 2006")
  • placing and resizing images
  • making a User page look really nice

—The preceding unsigned comment was added by TheListUpdater (talkcontribs).

Here are my addresses to each of your concerns:
  • making tables - Help:Table should explain everything. I admit I haven't created tables, just edited them since I haven't had the need to so far but if you have any questions I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability.
  • founding and maintaining successful WikiProjects - Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide should also explain everything although I don't think there are many editors on wikipedia who have founded more than one wikiproject. If you have any questions regarding wikiprojects, I feel Wikipedia:WikiProject_Council would be able to help you better than I will.
  • knowing exactly how to make a reference - WP:REF, I like to use the different {{cite}} templates.
  • vandalism - usually when you see those edits in the history they were done by somebody using an anti-vandal tool. I personally use VandalProof. You need to be approved to use this tool, the approval requirements are basically 500 edits so I think they should approve you (usually takes less than a day). This program really automates fighting vandalism.
  • making a user page look really nice - well I can't really help you with that as mine doesn't look too good. You can add this template to your user page to get help from people who are good at that stuff: {{User FixMyPage}}, I actually added this template to my user page. You can also get help at Wikipedia:WikiProject User Page Help

Since I am a member in the Computer & Video Games WikiProject, I salvaged this old article from the deletion and cleaned it up a bit. Although it still needs cleanup, nicer formatting, some images, and a better reference, I think that in a week or so, it should be good. User:TheListUpdater/Stage_Debut. Nice job, it's looking good. Where did you salvage it from? Yonatan (contribs/talk) 12:50, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
It was a request from the sysop that deleted it User:HereToHelp. Anyways, I had it cleaned up, added info on it, then added a reference to the WP:CVG magazine archive. I have yet to add pictures.

New Stuff

edit

Sorry I took so long, I had a bit of trouble uploading a picture to User:TheListUpdater/Stage Debut. I have one question though. How do I see contributions in "my contributions" that have been deleted?

Hey, sorry for not responding earlier, I missed the page on my watchlist. It seems very good with a lot of information for a game that was never released. Two questions\suggestions I have though:

1. Did you intentionally leave out N64 from the infobox (where you had just gamecube) 2. While googling (your stage debut page came 4th in the search), I found this info:

"Satoru Iwata has confirmed that several new intellectual properties will be available throughout the launch window of the Revolution. Stage Debut is likely one of the new IPs being developed. The game is an evolution of Mario Artist: Talent Maker, with several new features and concepts from the other Mario Artist titles. Overall, it is the most ambitious title Nintendo has showcased and could possibly be a much bigger success than Animal Crossing, Brain-Age, Nintendogs, and Wario Ware. The GameCube version of Stage Debut was said to have required an e-card reader, microphone, camera, and memory card for it to perform all the functions the development team originally envisioned. Ultimately, Nintendo was experimenting with far too many accessories for it to ever release for GameCube. The title has been on the back-burner ever since.

What a game player can expect from the eventual release of Stage Debut is an enormous virtual canvas capable of creating just about anything. The original Stage Debut allowed for the creation of pictures, movies, and music videos. For example, a young film-maker could create a 3D movie about space ninjas taking over the world. One of the coolest features Nintendo introduced publicly about the game, was the ability to download famous video game characters and designers. The player was able to create his own virtual worlds and incorporate Pikmin, Mario, Link, Hideo Kojima, Shigeru Miyamoto, Hiroshi Yamauchi, and Ichiro Suzuki into the game. It remains to be seen how Nintendo will handle the microphone and camera functions on the Revolution (or Nintendo DS).

The "most talented designer at EAD, Yoichi Yamada" (Dylan Cuthbert) and a small team have been working on this project for over four years. With the Revolution incorporating a large memory capacity, Wi-Fi, microphone (likely), and other un-named features and peripherals, it will be a much bigger stage for the game to debut."

This was taken from here, you might be able to incorporate some of it into your article, since I don't know much about the subject I wouldn't really know. Yonatan (contribs/talk) 23:25, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Userboxes

edit

I've discovered Wikipedia:Userboxes! I even created one: User:TheListUpdater/Template:NotBK. How do I align all my userboxes to the right (similar to User:A Link to the Past and make a custom picture in future userboxes I might make? TheListUpdater 22:59, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

I updated your page but here's how I did it, the parts I added are in bold:

{| align="right" style="background:transparent;"
|
{{adoptee|Yonatanh}}
|-
|{{User WPCVG}}
|-
|{{User McDonald's}}
|-
|{{user browser:Safari}}
|}

Bah, I can't get the bold added for some reason, mainly I added the first line which is a special type of formatting, i think in wiki code or something like that, and then added a | before every user box and made a line with |- after every userbox. Deleted Contributions

edit

How do I see contributions in "my contributions" that have been deleted? TheListUpdater 22:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

You can't, even admins can't. Yonatan (contribs/talk) 01:18, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Embedding movies?

edit

Can you embed movies in Wikipedia pages? Is that possible? TheListUpdater 04:09, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Nope, you can't embed movies in Wikipedia pages as that'd sort of screw dialup users but you can use Template:Video which is the next best thing, it provides a link for in-browser playing of a files hosted on the english wikipedia or commons. Yonatan talk 22:18, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for Not Doing Much...

edit

I'd like to see Altamonte Mall's article for some research and refurb as new article. Could you do that please? TheListUpdater 22:06, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm actually not an admin but I'll try to get someone to do that for you. Yonatan talk 22:34, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
It's been restored to your user space now with the generous help of KFP, see User:TheListUpdater/Altamonte Mall. Yonatan talk 22:50, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
