Rio Metro is the local transit agency responsible for services in Sandoval, Bernalillo, and Valencia counties. Most routes are either designed to connect rural areas, such as pueblos, to locales that have access to the Rail Runner, or supplement service in Bernalillo County in conjunction with ABQ RIDE. Although some routes enter into Bernalillo county, Service there is usually provided by ABQ RIDE.

Service

edit

Rio Metro has three types of service. each is designed to *accommodate the area being served.

Rio Metro operates Four routes in Sandoval County, two routes in Valencia County, and one route in Bernalillo county. except for #8 and # 366, all buses connect to a Rail Runner Station at either Los Lunas, Belen, or at Sandoval County/US550 Stations.

Bernalillo County Routes
edit

Route 366 runs from the ABQ RIDE Central & Unser transit center on the west side to Route 66 Casino, making several daily trips.

Valencia County Routes
edit

Route 206 runs through various neighborhoods in Belen to the Belen Rail Runner Station

Route 207 runs through neighborhoods on both sides of I-25, then proceeds to the Los Lunas Rail Runner Station

ABQ RIDE routes either fully funded or partially funded by Rio Metro

edit

Rio Metro also privdes a significant amount of funding to ABQ RIDE to provide services in Bernalillo County. Becuase the City of Albuquerque does not encompass the entire county, people living in these areas would not recieve any bus service becuase they are outside city limits. Rio Metro funds several commuter routes, several fixed routes, and a rapid ride. for these services, the ABQ RIDE fleet is used. Routes listed in the #200 range are routes that connect to a Rail Runner Station. Bus Schedules are printed by ABQ RIDE, but will denote if the route recieves any funding from Rio Metro.

Paratransit and Dial-A-Ride

edit

Rio Metro has taken over operations for the Rio Rancho Paratransit service.

Belen and Los Lunas offer Dial-A-Ride service.

edit

Rio Metro's short range plan for the next few years indicates that more fixed bus routes in Valencia and Sandoval counties will be created, and a Park and Ride facility is being planned in Bosque Farms, just north of Los Lunas.
