Neohumanism (Neo-Humanism) is a holistic philosophical theory given by Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar that redefines humanity and humanism, and in which universalism plays a central role. Its main source is his book "Liberation of Intellect: Neo-Humanism" published in 1982. The follower of Neohumanism is known as "Neohumanist"[1][2][3]

Main Idea

edit

Humanism has spoken of the progress of mankind. But, neohumanism speaks of the harmony and development of human beings, including animals, birds, plants and all living and non-living things in the world. It promotes the interrelationship between spirituality, socialization and fraternity and criticizes bigotry, exploitation, subculture and so on. Neohumanism has a fundamental relationship with Sarkar's Progressive Utilization Theory (PROUT). Sarkar says – PROUT will give motivation and strength to eliminate all inequalities and artificial divisions. PROUT will find inspiration and conviction to move forward from Neohumanism – neohumanistic motivation, ideology and thought. It has an effect on the activities of Ananda Marga.[1][2][3][4]
