Strathclyde Sirens

Strathclyde Sirens, formerly UWS Sirens, are a Scottish netball team based in Glasgow and compete in the Netball Superleague. The team was jointly formed in 2016 by both Netball Scotland and the University of the West of Scotland as UWS Sirens, during the expanding of the Netball Superleague. In 2018, the new name Strathclyde Sirens was announced following a partnership with the University of Strathclyde. Home games are played at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

Sirens Netball was added to the Netball Superleague after England Netball announced the expanding of the league. Yorkshire Jets was replaced with the Sirens along with newcomers Severn Stars and Wasps Netball.

2017: Inaugural seasonEdit

The 2017 Netball Superleague season saw the debut of Sirens as UWS Sirens. Sirens lost their first match against newcomers Wasps Netball in front of a sold-out Emirates Arena. They went on to finish 6th in the season, unable to reach top 4, their main goal.

Strathclyde SirensEdit

In 2018, it was announced that the team would be named the Strathclyde Sirens, following a 3 year partnership with the University of Strathclyde.[1]
