Can you please try to find another image? The current one is way too large imho. --kingboyk 21:47, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do you mean the original size, or the transcluded size? One Night In Hackney303 21:48, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply. I mean screen real estate: template size, mostly due to the display size of the image. Is there no icon you could use instead? --kingboyk 23:16, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'll have a browse, but we'd need to find a free image not a fair use one. The only one that instantly springs to mind is the Flag of Ireland, but I can imagine some Irish editors getting upset if that was used. One Night In Hackney303 23:23, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
We did used to have this version which for some reason was changed, is that more acceptable? One Night In Hackney303 23:28, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Still very big. How about an icon of the island of Ireland? That could go quite small yet still be recognisable. --kingboyk 10:58, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I can assure you that might still cause problems, it would need to be something Republican specific rather than Ireland specific. I don't consider the image to be that big, particularly the older one. For example if you see Talk:Belfast, the NI and Belfast ones take up a similar amouunt of room, and it's the text that makes the template big. Admittedly the current image adds to that slightly, but the older image doesn't as fas as I can tell. One Night In Hackney303 10:55, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
The "Erin Go Bragh" image is completely unacceptable to depict a WikiProject on Irish republicanism, as I'm sure you fellows already know. The current image appears to suit the project quite well and is released to the public domain. If the only issue is sizing, feel free to go ahead and tweak it to your liking. That's your opinion, and I disagree. If the current image is made any smaller it kind of defeats the object of having an image in the first place, to be fair. As before, I'm more than willing to have it changed to something appropriate if anything can be suggested. One Night In Hackney303 11:40, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ah, apologies, mate. I had wrongly assumed that you knew the origin of the phrase "Erin Go Bragh" (it's been discussed over at the WikiProject in the past). It's not used in Ireland and is actually a caricature created by Irish-Americans. That is, it has absolutely zero relevance to republicanism. I can see your point in that resizing the image might make the proclamation undecipherable. I'm not proficient at all in image sizing, but I'll give it a go to see if I can make it smaller, and if you could, please check it out and report back on whether you think the image is still recognisable gaillimhConas tá tú? 11:49, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't see why it needs to be made smaller, for comparison see {{Irelandproj}}, that's 85px (bigger that the previous version of this which was 80px) and nobody is complaining. One Night In Hackney303 11:53, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Also The Wolfe Tones would dispute that "Erin Go Bragh" is not used in Ireland ;) One Night In Hackney303 11:55, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Kingboyk appeared to be concerned about size of the template (which I'm not sure was even reduced by reducing the image). Also, with regards to "Erin Go Bragh", it's a terrific sentiment, but is most often associated with Irish-Americans, as opposed to their brethren back home. It's certainly not an oft-used phrase in Ireland, and I've never seen it associated with republicanism. gaillimhConas tá tú? 12:42, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've no preference for either image, I was just trying to find a vertically smaller free use image that we could use without problems. One Night In Hackney303 12:50, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
