Final sentence does not quite work

The final sentence of the article - "He [Asquith] went on to lead one of the most successful reforming governments of the 20th century." - is to my mind problematic. While I would not personally disagree that Asquith's administration passed many reforms, and there are historians who would say it was a successful administration, I think this reads like opinion rather than fact. If there was a citation and reference to this being the view of a writer or writers, then it would be better. However, it is the case that Asquith's administration's success can, and has been, questioned by some historians. A critical view could point out Asquith (and his fellow Relugas plotter Grey), presided over a foreign policy which at best did nothing to prevent the most catastrophic in history conflict to involve Britain - and some would argue actually made such a conflict far more likely. Others might point out that Asquith stoked industrial unrest and badly handled the issue of female suffrage. His Irish policy is also contentious, and his two election results in 1910 were far inferior to Campbell-Bannerman's 1906 result. Thus I think the statement as it stands at the very least needs references to historians' opinions to support it. Dunarc (talk) 19:46, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
