So, here is the compromise text (already in place for a week):

  • Palestinian people (Arabic: الشعب الفلسطيني, ash-sha'ab il-filastini), Palestinians (Arabic: الفلسطينيين, al-filastiniyyin), or Palestinian Arabs (Arabic: العربي الفلسطيني, al-'arabi il-filastini) are terms used to refer to an Arabic-speaking people with family origins in the region of Palestine.

From what I can tell, this text is a consensus insofar as it's a compromise involving the following editors recently on Talk here (alphabetical): Armon, CasualObserver'48, Eleland, Funkynusayri ,G-Dett, Hobson, Itzse, MPerel, Nishidani, 6SJ7, Steve, Tiamut, with facilitation by Padillah. (Note: The compromise is not necessarily anyone's first choice, but no party is trying to block consensus either. I assume that some folks will still want to clarify the editorial position, options above, to support further use of "a people" in the article. Also, so far nobody objected to the suggestion that the compromise stand for at least 6 months.) So, with appreciations dispersed widely to all parties, thanks.
