"Mortgage Note"
Do "Mortgage Notes" exist outside the USA? I've held a couple of Mortgages, and I've never heard of a "Mortgage Note." If it is USA-specific, it shouldn't be mentioned in the opening paragraph as part of the definition of a Mortgage. 86.181.120.13 (talk) 18:55, 22 February 2012 (UTC) I have seen the phrase "mortgage note" used to describe mortgages in Canada here http://www.checkrates.com/Articles/Mortgages/entries/Terminating-a-Canadian-Mortgage-Note and I believe the word "note" is used interchangeably for the word "loan" throughout North America. It is also defined in the British dictionary of business at dictionary.cambridge.org. - No, in the UK and other common law jurisadictions the documentation is a Mortgage Deed and Mortgage Offer. The Mortgage note article confirms it is US specific. I've re-written it to make it more generic. DeCausa (talk) 04:12, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
