Talk:Jewish art music movement

(Redirected from Talk:Jewish art music)

Untitled edit

I started this article with a much more ambitious scope, hoping to include sections on

  • The Yiddish theater movement
  • Jewish art music in America
  • The composers
  • The music
  • Ideological discussions
  • Influences on Jewish music

But when I got to the section on the Yiddish theater movement, I understood that I knew almost nothing about it. So the article sat mouldering in my userspace for almost a year, until I finally decided to publish it as is.

So, all you mavens out there, feel free to move this article forward. --Ravpapa (talk) 04:40, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jewish art music: Page Move to Jewish art music movement edit

I implemented a Page Move for this article, previously titled Jewish art music, to Jewish art music movement for the following reason: a Hebrew WP mainspace article on the topic of Jewish art music and titled Muzika Yehudit Omanutit (an exact translation), covers the 12th through 18th centuries, mainly in Western Europe, while the present (now retitled) English-language article covers a particular movement that started in late 19th C. Russia. As the two pages stand, their content is mutually exclusive. I've been approached to translate the Hebrew article to English for inclusion in the English-language WP, for which I intend to repurpose the original, more comprehensive title, and then summarize the 19th C. Russian movement content as a section with reference to this page. I welcome productive collaboration with other editors in both language projects. -- Deborahjay (talk) 20:41, 29 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Update: Since there's no exact equivalent article in other WP languages, I added the translation template "Expand with content from the corresponding article in the Hebrew Wikipedia" to the article page. This adds the page to the Category:Articles needing translation from Hebrew Wikipedia. -- Deborahjay (talk) 14:02, 30 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
