Article creation.
On randomly coming across a video of this haunting scenario where a man is clearly murdered by a police force, I felt compelled to create this article. It was given much media attention and is most definitely noteworthy; but the creation purpose is more a moral thing. I've seen many 'police brutality' videos where it can be understood that hot blooded angry people dealing with equally worked up police come to misconceptions and misunderstandings that lead to escalation of violence; but this was the first time in my life I've literally stopped and said, "Now -that- was fucked up."
A short warning about the video, it's graphic, not very, but I think it's more the psychological impact that the guy is literally surrendering, doing everything right to keep himself alive, just to talk to his pregnant girlfriend before he goes to spend life in gaol. He's resigned to this fate, yet is using a bluff of "If you let the dog go, or send someone running at me, I'm going to have to shoot at y'all, and then you'll kill me, so I don't want that like you don't want that."
What shocked me was, before the dog was even released, shooting commenced. They had previously mentioned that they were going to 'send a dog in' and 'it'll bite him' to resolve the situation, yet before that even happened firing commenced. "Fuck." was the most common word after the death of Deandre and the police dog; I have a feeling the police themselves at the scene realised they'd screwed up. Apparently none of the police noticed that he stood up and dropped his weapon as soon as the gunfire was heard.
Totally messed up scenario, but alas, such is life. If anyone can help expand this article, I'd be most appreciative. Jachin 16:02, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

After watching the video, this article seems pretty inaccurate and unsourced. He wasn't exactly writhing on the ground as the police took the dog away, and they didn't continue shooting for "some time," for instance.

The audio of gunfire is clearly dubbed onto the video in an amateur fashion and is not consistent with the video. The officers do not appear to fire until the subject stands up and begins to raise the object in his hand. The subject clearly stated several times in the video he had a gun and would shoot the officers.
