Lot is taken prisoner during a war. Abram pursues with his armed retainers. Returning victorious, Abram is met by Melchizedek, the king and high priest of Salem (Jerusalem), who blesses him, and in return Abram gives him a tithe of his booty, refusing his share of the same.
