José Silva (baseball)

José Leonel Silva (born December 19, 1973) is a Mexican former right-handed pitcher. He last played for the Rieleros de Aguascalientes of the Mexican League. He played all or part of six seasons in Major League Baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1996, Pittsburgh Pirates from 1997 until 2001, and the Cincinnati Reds in 2002.

Silva was drafted out of Hilltop High School in Chula Vista, California. He last pitched in the affiliated minor leagues in 2006 for the Oklahoma RedHawks, and has been playing in the Mexican League since then.

Silva is currently highly sought after pitching coach in the San Diego area to youth, junior, and mlb pitching prospects. His teaching methodology is clinical mechanics and then as pitchers become older, he also trains for increasing velocity. Jose top velocity was clocked at 99mph while with the Pirates in the MLB. He became a complete pitcher commanding location while a pitcher in the MExican Professional League still throwing in the low to mid-90s.

Jose featured Fastball, Curve, Splitter, and a Changeup. He perfected throwing a changeup while in the Mexican Professional League.

Jose currently resides in Chula Vista, CA. Jose is married and has three adorable children.
