This map is incorrect; France under Vichy administration (including the German-occupied area of northern France) was officially neutral during World War II. --67.133.117.210 (talk) 21:45, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Finland edit

Why is Finland shown as part of the Axis? Even the Allies themselves recognised the Finnish invasion of the Soviet Union as distinct from the German invasion. The Finns invaded to re-take territory lost when the Soviets previously invaded them. The Finns later fought the Germans too to expel them from Finnish territory. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.43.222.171 (talk) 00:22, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

at the time there was finland-germany alliance--75.63.2.206 (talk) 23:51, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Gibraltar edit

Shouldn't Gibraltar be shown on the map as it was a strategic Naval position for the Allies in the Mediterranean. Ijanderson (talk) 05:09, 11 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Placement in article edit

Isn't this map in a wrong place in the article? The text is about 1939/40 and suddenly there's a map of situation in 1941 portraying Soviet Union as one of the allies. Which was true in 1941 but was NOT true in 1939. So in a map appropriate for this place in the article talking about 1939/40, USSR should have the same colour as Germany. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.65.236.203 (talk) 15:17, 30 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Map Incorrect: "British" territories edit

Map is incorrect: Iceland, Syria and Lebanon were never under British sovereignty.

Iceland was a colony of Denmark that was occupied by the UK after Denmark was conquered by Nazi Germany. In Spring 1941, the USA replaced the UK as the occupying power. In 1944, Iceland declared its independence from Denmark.

Similarly, Syria and Lebanon were French colonies that had been occupied by the UK.

For that matter, Iraq was a nominally independent country that had ALSO been occupied by the UK.

And I agree with others who state that the British colony of Gibraltar should be indicated on the map, given its strategic importance in the Mediterranean theater. 67.171.69.236 (talk) 12:55, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Greece edit

Why does the map depict Greece to be under Italian occupation? If it wasn't for the German intervention they wouldn't have been conquered and they were also under joint occupation by three different countries:Germany,Bulgaria and Italy, not just Italy.
