This is an extremely irritating graphic to have on a web page. Please slow it down by 3-4x, otherwise it is just a slow blink. No one wants blinking on web pages.

Does it even need to be an animation? I feel as though a static image with a suitable caption better explains the concept while reducing the "annoying animation" factor.Glosser.ca (talk) 16:28, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect description

Hasn't anyone noticed that this is not the unit square inscribed with the unit circle? The inner shape is a quarter-circle: the upper right quadrant of the unit circle. While this does not affect the calculations, it does mean the description is incorrect. Or am I the one missing something? ~ MD Otley (talk) 20:12, 22 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

What is this, actually? How does placing dots randomly result in a quarter-circle? It's a cute illustration, but what's the algorithm being illustrated here? 82.128.191.137 (talk) 13:20, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Okay, an old revision of the image describes its use.
"As points are randomly scattered inside the unit square, some fall within the unit circle. The fraction of points inside the circle over all points approaches pi as the number of points goes toward infinity."
That makes sense. It should be more visible for this image to be useful. 82.128.191.137 (talk) 13:25, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
