Identification of this orchid

edit

This is an image of one of the orchids in the Thelymitra macrophylla ("blue sun orchids") complex. It is difficult to tell the species without knowing details about the leaf and size of the flower parts. Assuming the photo was taken in September and in the Mount Lindesay National Park near Denmark, the most likely species is T. macrophylla. Distribution, flowering period, description (esp. "post-anther lobe ......dark brown to blackish with a yellow apex, tubular, hardly inflated, hooded, entire or shallowly notched") match. T. graminea is similar (but has smaller leaves and flowers) and usually flowers October to November. It is definitely not T. angustifolia which is quite different and only occurs in New South Wales and Queensland. Gderrin (talk) 05:12, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
