Finland

edit

As of 2012, there is also selective censorship of the internet in Finland: only the Piratebay is blocked by Elisa users, by court order.

Argentina

edit

This picture is wrong. Argentina does censor the internet. Here is some proof:

Reply re: Finland, Argentina, the UK, and the Netherlands

edit

Not done. This is a reply to the previous questions about Finland, Argentina, the UK, and the Netherlands. The classifications shown on the map are based on the classifications from the Internet censorship by country article, which is in turn based on the classifications by the OpenNet Initiative, Reporters Without Borders, and similar organizations. So to change the classification of a country, one of those organizations would need to update their classification. If they do update their classifications, we will update the map accordingly. --Jeff Ogden (W163) (talk) 03:12, 30 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Map colors?

edit

There is a discussion going on over in Wikipedia Commons about possible changes to the colors used in the Internet Censorship map and elsewhere. It would be good to get some additional editors comments on this. If you are willing, would you pop over to Commons:File talk:Internet Censorship World Map.svg and let us know what you think? --Jeff Ogden (W163) (talk) 21:12, 11 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

United States

edit

Little or no censorship? Is this a joke? Unless you aren't taking the world's heaviest surveillance into account, in which case the map needs a new category. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.167.113.149 (talk) 00:01, 2 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

This map should only depict censorship

edit

This map is misleading. Countries that are clearly on the |Censorship by country page as being free, and with no evidence of filtering are labeled with "Pervasive censorship" on this map. This includes, but is not limited to, countries such as the United Kingdom, United States, and Australia.

I understand that these countries were added because one free-internet organization designates them as 'enemies of the internet', however that neither implies nor indicates that the country is imposing censorship. I propose that this map be fixed by ignoring the "Internet lists" column of the |Censorship by country list. Mamyles (talk) 17:04, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
