Germany edit

I do know of some sources that state Germany allows full joint adoption for SSCs. France still does not provide SSCs with full joint adoption. SSCs means same sex couples.

Norway edit

From 1 January 2009, SSCs in Norway will be provided with fully and legally joint adoption, IVF, surrogacy and marriage.

England edit

When did England provide SSCs full joint access to adoption?

England & Wales Dec 2005, Scotland Sep 2009, Northern Ireland ambiguous Philoyonder (talk) 12:49, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Denmark edit

What is the situation in Denmark - regarding adoption policys, surrogacy and IVF for SSCs?

England Update edit

In England single women and lesbians can have full access to surrogacy and IVF - and even have the female "civil partner" child listed on the birth certificate as "parent".

Update in Denmark edit

Full joint adoption is now legal in Denmark, so Denmark should be dark pink now. See two sources [1] [2] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.179.75.133 (talk) 05:07, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not so fast. Had you read your source #2, you would find that the government is obliged to propose a bill allowing for full joint adoption. This bill hasn't been proposed, and in the meantime members could change their minds, leave Parliament and so on. The government has to propose the law - and has mentioned it in its law catalogue for 2009-2010, but it's not proposed yet, and so it's not effective. --87.52.28.248 (talk) 14:12, 21 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Finland, Germany and France edit

What is the latest situation in Finland regarding adoption for LGBT people? Also what is the latest situation in Germany and France regarding adoption for LGBT people? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.179.75.133 (talk) 06:16, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Step-child adoption is now legal in Finland. See http://www.iltalehti.fi/uutiset/200905150131118_uu.shtml (unfortunately in Finnish). --Jetman (talk) 15:51, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland edit

They all need to be red — they ban same-sex adoption. See LGBT rights in Europe#Northern Europe. VoodooIsland (talk) 17:19, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it's necessary to colour them red, since grey colouring already suggests that same-sex adoption is not legal. A ban on same-sex adoption and not allowing same-sex adoption are practically the same thing. What the map does not reflect is where single gay people can adopt and where they cannot. In some countries, such as Latvia, Lithuania and Italy (but not Poland), only married couples can adopt. This excludes all single and unmarried people, be they gay or straight, from adopting. This situation is different to most countries in Europe, where, while same-sex couples cannot jointly adopt, single people (of any sexual orientation) are permitted to adopt. Gay adoption illegal edit

If we intend on using the gay adoption legal color (red), I think we should apply it, starting with Romania[1], Lithuania, Latvia, and Italy. As stated above, I'm sure we need the color, but if so, perhaps it could be changed to "Law confirmedly restricts adoption to married couples" and keep gray how it is. VoodooIsland (talk) 02:35, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, I think it's unnecessary to add a new category of "Gay adoption illegal". Again, like in the case of same-sex marriage, there isn't really a practical difference between countries which restrict adoption to (heterosexual) married couples and those which explicitly have statutes stating that same-sex couples cannot adopt. Nor is there a difference between the aforementioned situation, and those countries where all straight couples (including unmarried ones) and all single people can adopt, but same-sex couple are prevented from jointly adopting. In all cases, same-sex couples, which are the focus of this map, cannot adopt. Ronline 09:55, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

France edit

I think France should be switched back to grey. According to LGBT adoption, court decisions on step-child adoption have not been consistent in France. Furthermore, there is no explicit statute which authorises same-sex adoption (as in Finland or Germany). Ronline 09:59, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree with you, reading this you can see that step-child adoption isn't allowed, it took ten years for the mother's partner to adopt that child, and with a judicial battle. I think France should be Gray. http://www.gayclic.com/articles/emmanuelle_b_obtient_l_agrement_d_adoption_apres_plus_de_10_ans_de_combat.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.27.52.36 (talk) 06:18, 26 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Single gay people allowed to adopt edit

Maybe we could update the maps to show where single gay people may adopt I know Ireland allows it and many other countries I am sure do also Rctycoplay (talk) 23:45, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Northern Ireland edit

As far as I am aware, although England (Dec 2005), Wales (Dec 2005) and Scotland (Sep 2009) allow joint SSC to adopt, Northern Ireland (unlike the rest of the UK, but like the Republic of Ireland) do not, and yet the map suggests that it does. Is this recifiable? I don't know how to edit the map. Philoyonder (talk) 12:52, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Jersey edit

Jersey (One of the Channel Islands) how has civil partnerships since 1 January 2012. Adoption of children is included - but not marriage (just like the UK). Please update the map to include a purple dot just next to France. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.148.207.230 (talk) 07:33, 21 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Portugal edit

Please make Portugal light pink for step-child adoption - this has been recognised since 17 May 2013. See here. Thanks, Ronline 14:55, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Too soon. The bill still needs approval in the second reading and president's signature. Ron 1987 (talk) 15:26, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Portugal edit

Portugal colour needs to be updated. It allows stepchild adoption either biological or adopted. Someone could help? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Diogo sfreitas (talkcontribs) 12:56, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Slovenia edit

As far as I know, Slovenia doesn't allow step child adoption. That proposal was rejected on the referendum in 2012. Map should be corrected. --Emir234 (talk) 12:28, 31 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Northern Ireland - now legal edit

Could someone please update the map to include Northern Ireland, where same-sex adoption is now legal. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-25332917 Comblot (talk) 13:11, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Isle of Man edit

The article Gay_adoption clearly states that equal adoption by couples has been legal in Isle of Man since 2011. The map needs to be updated (presently the grey dot in the middle of the British Isles).--109.114.28.210 (talk) 02:17, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Single LGBT adoption? edit

In many countries single LGBT people can adopt, so images of continents should be updated accordingly: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plik:World_same-sex_adoption_laws.svg--86.3.200.81 (talk) 12:35, 12 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
