Flag of the Septinsular Republic?

I dbout that this is he flag of the Septinsular Republic as it does not contain the words "1800", as in the logo of the Septinsular Republic. I believe this version of the Venetian lion was used by the British during their rule of the islands. --Damac (talk) 15:45, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

The lion for this flag was obviously taken from the flag of the British protectorate over the islands. You are right in that it is inaccurate in its omission of the ribbon with the "1800" on it.
