What evidence is there that this was the national flag of Sudan during the Mahdist period? The British museum simply states that it was "associated with the Mahdi", which is hardly conclusive. Maybe this should be cleared before spamming it all over wikipedia... --RD47 (talk) 17:33, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
