A free image of Evaristo is unlikely to be available because the journalist was kidnapped and remains disappeared since 2010. At least 17 journalists have disappeared since 2000, and nothing is known of their whereabouts. [1] Given the circumstances and the players involved, I think it is highly unlikely and unreasonable to think that a free image of Evaristo is possible. I understand that there's a huge distinction between a journalist who is killed and one that is disappeared (legally, the government does not consider Evaristo dead), but Mexican journalists that are disappeared in such a way for years are likely dead. A) he is not dead, his location is unknown.
B) the article is less than 24 hrs old, there is no way an extensive search by anyone other than the creator could have been undertaken to show that a free image can not be obtained.
C) there is no evidence that the family, colleagues, party or employer of the subject have been contacted requesting a free image and all refused.
The NFC criteria exist for a reason and just because the location of someone is unknown or they are dead is not a reason to assume that the use of non-free material passes criteria 1. LGA talkedits 09:02, 28 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Reply to A) We don't know if he's dead or not. Stating that he's not dead is a claim. He's disappeared since April 2010, and given the circumstances surrounding the event, it is reasonable to conclude that he won't be found (as shown by the link I provided).
Reply to B) Not really sure but I don't think there's a rule about that. But if that is your objection, what would be the sufficient waiting time to accept the non-free image?
Reply to C) I think I can contact one of the family members/the party through Facebook or by e-mail exchange, but this is a delicate topic and I don't want to put myself in danger by exposing my name. Simply "waiting" for someone related to him to upload a free image of him is, in my opinion, illogical. That rarely happens for articles like this. ComputerJA () 17:33, 28 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
