File talk:Enola Gay2.jpg

This photograph is captioned "MARIANAS ISLAND -- Boeing B-29 Superfortress "Enola Gay" landing after the atomic bombing mission on Hiroshima, Japan".

It is my understanding that "Enola Gay" had the tail markings changed for the operation, removing the 'R' for a forward-pointing arrow, indicating the strike mission. If this is correct, the photograph cannot have been taken on the aircraft's return from the nuclear strike mission.

Please can someone confirm this to be fact?
