China a Soviet ally? edit

Should China really be listed as a Soviet ally? I recall that the Russians and Chinese had a very antagonistic relationship that did come to violence a few times. Pjones 22:45, 18 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Sino-Soviet split did not become official until 1960, thus the reason for why it is still shown as an ally of the USSR. -- Clevelander 01:52, 1 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Belgian congo edit

Shouldnt Congo and Uganda be separate from the rest of the Belgian Congo? I suppose it doesnt matter since they would be the same color anyway but just pointing it out --Astrokey44 11:01, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, they should! (Homer slips, 20.26 U.T.C., Nov' 6, 2006)

East Pakistan AKA Bangladsh edit

The East Pakistan of the 1950's became Bangladesh in 1971. During the Fifties it was a province of Pakistan, not a European Colony.

Malaya edit

Malaya became independent in 1957. I changed it from "colony" to "other ally of US".

Cuba edit

Cuba wasn't an official Soviet ally until 1961. The map is inaccurate. --Zleitzen 04:12, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Israel edit

Israel had gained independence from Great Britain in 1948 and was no longer a colony. It was however, an ally of the United States.

It certainly was a colony of the U.S. after the independence from Britain.

Aid edit

Why is receiving aid important? Is pocket money all it takes to get a country under your thumb? I would have thought 'countries with CIA interference' would be more notable a criteria. Except that all countries would fall under that one. 129.215.149.97 22:52, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

European Colony edit

This term is too broad. It could include colonies of communist European countries, though none existed at the time. I think it would be better to separate them into colonies of NATO members and colonies of other US allies (ie Spain). The colonies might be made the same colour as their parent countries, or they could use lighter shades. 203.33.3.2 (talk) 01:50, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yugoslavia edit

Surely Yugoslavia was at least as linked to the USSR as the South American countries were to the US. 203.33.3.2 (talk) 01:50, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

India as neutral. edit

The map describes the republic of India to be neutral even thought it recieved intensive military and economic aid from the USSR.However India declared itself to be non aligned and started the Non Aligned Movement but its credibility is questionable as India still recieves a lot of help from Russia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.177.68.20 (talk) 12:41, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
