Speedy delete edit

A speedy delete warning suggest that I need to explain my intention to contest the action.

  • (1) I have added the following to the description
  • |Purpose = The significance of the brochure is to help the reader identify the intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey,
  • |Portion = The entire brochure cover is used to convey the meaning intended and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the intended image.
  • |Low_resolution = The cover image is a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by Canadian Pacific Steamships without being unnecessarily high resolution.
  • |Replaceability = Because it is a specific Canadian Pacific Steamships brochure, there is almost certainly no free equivalent. Any substitute that is not a derivative work would fail to convey the meaning intended, would tarnish or misrepresent its image, or would fail its purpose of identification or commentary.
  • (2) If the following is insufficient for Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License, I need further explanation in order to understand. My question becomes "Why not?"
  • (3) If necessary I will re-format the description to assert a fair use rationale.

This may not be the appropriate venue for resolving any outstanding issues, but it is a reasonable beginning. --Tenmei (talk) 16:37, 10 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • A Fair use is probably fine. I doubt this artwork is owned by the website owner where you obtained them, so his licensing is moot. In the unlikely event he does own the artwork then a release under a specific CC license or another one permitting commercial and derivative works would be needed.
