St John's Seminary

Changing the color of St John's Seminary might help clarify what property it now owns, which is very little. For details, see a map of BC's Brighton campus. On that map, the large (partial) building in black (127 Lake St.) is St. John's Seminary. Chonak (talk) 05:30, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Updates Needed in 2023

Hello,

I'm noting here a number of updates that should be made to this image, if someone is able to make them. This is not an exhaustive list of updates that may need to be made, just things I noticed while looking at the current map and comparing to this list article.

Locations/Geography

• The Mass. School of Professional Psychology moved to Newton in 2012. It is located near the Charles River to the west of Mt. Ida. Source

  • Note name change, below.
• Harvard sold the parcel in Watertown, now known as the Arsenal on the Charles, in 2013. Source
  • Harvard's land holdings in Allston have also changed, though it may be too difficult to keep these current. 2022 Crimson Map
• As of January 3, 2023, Hebrew College is moving to a new location in Newton, in Auburndale near Woodland Station. Source

Closures and Mergers

• The Longy School of Music merged with Bard College in 2011 and is now known as the Longy School of Music of Bard College. Source
• Berklee College of Music and the Boston Conservatory merged in 2015. Source
  • The latter is now known as the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • The whole institution is now known simply as Berklee, though I'm not sure what is the best label to use here.
• The School of the Museum of Fine Arts merged with Tufts University in 2016. It is now known as the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts, or the SMFA at Tufts. Source
• The New England Institute of Art closed in 2017. Source
• The Episcopal Divinity School left Cambridge in 2017 and is now a part of Union Theological Seminary in New York. Source
  • The former campus is now owned by Lesley University. Source

• The Andover Newton Theological School left Newton and in 2017 and is now a part of Yale Divinity School. Source

Other Name Changes

• The New England School of Law changed its name to New England Law | Boston in 2008. Source
  • Although news media are inconsistent in the use of the pipe, the institution uses it consistently in its own materials (when not abbreviating to New England Law).
• The Mass. School of Professional Psychology changed its name to William James College in 2016. Source
• The Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology changed its name to the Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology in 2022. Source

Additional Schools

• The MGH Institute of Health Professions opened a dedicated campus in the Charlestown Navy Yard in 2002. Source

• Sattler College opened in 2018. Source
  • It rents space in the Leverett Saltonstall Building in Bowdoin Sq. [Source https://sattler.edu/blog/2017/10/26]
• Springfield College operates programs out of the Schrafft Center in Charlestown near Sullivan Sq.
  • I am unable to find a dated source for when this program began, but here is the college's page about their programs there.
  • I am not sure if this needs to be labelled.
• The vocational North Bennet Street School is located in the North End.
  • I am not sure if this needs to be labelled.
• I'm not sure if only schools inside 128 are being included (which is the definition in the list article), but Olin College in Needham and Babson College in Wellesley are both visible within the bounds of this map.
