Perhaps the description would be better as copper-plate "after" Andrea Palladio. Presumably the plate was prepared from a drawing by Palladio, who was not an engraver himself. During his lifetime his drawings were published as woodcuts, and it is assumed that he oversaw the work of a specialist block-cutter.
