data source is VFACTS (see the table on the commodore page for links)

The segment used to be called upper medium but was changed to large in 1995 roughly, the same cars qualified. Greglocock (talk) 05:54, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Should be text edit

If the fuckwit editor who thinks this graph should be text thinks the text above is easier to understand than a graph, then by all means use the text. Don't just add a lazy tag. Greglocock (talk) 06:12, 31 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Everybody wants their say on here! But I agree with you Greglocock. Incidentally, I changed the graphical legend to add brands. What did you mean by "etc" with the Toyotas? Just V6 or also the 4 cylinders? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CtrlXctrlV (talkcontribs) 15:58, 1 January 2016‎ (UTC)Reply
It's a catchall for the Toyotas that were classified as large cars, which from memory was the V6 variant of the models. Greglocock (talk) 22:10, 1 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • @Greglocock: That's not solely what the tag represents. It also means that there is a way for the information to be represented with either templates and/or wiki markup. Numerical data and graphs almost always meets this criterion, and this one is no exception. And the tag just means that the editor who tagged it sees that it is possible, but may not have the knowledge or the time to figure it out. I mean, after all, Wikipedia is a volunteer project. Bad faith assumptions and name calling serve no purpose here. Steel1943 (talk) 18:09, 1 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have created a version of the graph using Template:Line_chart. Easier to maintain and update than the image, can be stored in its own template page for use on various pages. Size can be adjusted if required. – Kytabu 00:07, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Australian large car sales (1991–2012)
  Holden Commodore (sedan and wagon)
  Ford Falcon (sedan and wagon)
  Toyota Aurion and Camry (six-cylinder)
  Other
Total Upper Medium and Large Car segment
@Steel1943: Thank you. If others are happy to make the switch I will create a template page with optional title and legend, and width variation. – Kytabu 00:37, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Excellent! CtrlXctrlV (talk) 01:27, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes that's fineGreglocock (talk) 01:32, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • If this template gets created, this talk page probably needs to be moved to the template's talk page. Steel1943 (talk) 01:29, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I'm going away this afternoon so I've left the code for the graph, with template variables included, in my sandbox if someone else wants to make the template page. I tried making it so that each line could be displayed individually, or to have any combination of the lines, but I couldn't get it to work. If someone knows how to achieve that, I feel it would be desirable, especially for use on the individual car pages. – Kytabu 01:34, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Kytabu: Anyone else creating the template may cause some WP:CWW issues. I know I'm in no hurry, so I can wait. :) Steel1943 (talk) 01:37, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Great template. This should be easier to update but the source code looks frightening to me! OSX (talkcontributions) 12:35, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have created the template at Template:Australian large car sales. I have added it to Ford Falcon (Australia) and Holden Commodore but I am not sure how to implement it at Automotive industry in Australia considering the images surrounding it in that article. – Kytabu 01:10, 10 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
