English: Gassan school yoroi doshi tanto. Signed "Yoshiteru", circa 1865, 1/2 in motogasane, (blade thickness) at the hamachi (the notch at the beginning of the cutting edge), 10in nagasa, ubu nakago, "ayasugi hada” which looks like a series of undulating rolling waves. Yoroidoshi / yoroi-doshi are a type of Japanese armor piercing dagger that have an extremely thick blade at the spine, known examples are from 3/8th inch to 9/16th inch.
