Summary

Description
English: Ynys Cyngar, near Porthmadog. "Ynys" means "island" in Welsh, but this place is part of the mainland - the last point on the Glaslyn Estuary. The building is known as the "powder house", as this was where gunpowder for the slate mines was unloaded, rather than take a ship full of explosive into Porthmadog Harbour, 2 miles upstream. The mountains are the Moelwyns
