Description

Early crest of the Working Men's College of Melbourne (antecedent to the present day Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology). This crest is from an 1899 letterhead and includes the institute motto "Perita Manus Mens Exculta", a mallet, pick, shovel, pallet and paintbrushes, retort stand and swan glass, oil lamp, books, and a microscope.
