English: William Broadhead, the eventually self-confessed instigator of The Sheffield Outrages, which included extortion, intimidation, bombings, threats and physical violence, including murder, by trades' unionists. Broadhead (1815–1879), was born in Whirlow, Sheffield, and became the leader of the Sawgrinders' Union.
