Summary

Description
English: Monument marking the grave lot of Captain William Rule (1839–1928) and family at Old Gray Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. Rule was an officer in the Union Army during Civil War, and later founded the Knoxville Journal and served as mayor of Knoxville. New York Times editor Adolph Ochs, whose career in the newspaper business began with Rule's paper, visited this grave on trips to Knoxville in his later years, and famously refused to allow himself to be photographed.
