English: Whitmore House, Brunswick, ME; from a c. 1905 postcard published by the Hugh C. Leighton Company, Portland, Maine, and showing the building in its Victorian colors. Now commonly called the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, it was rented by the author and her husband while he taught at Bowdoin College. Here between 1850 and 1852 was written Uncle Tom's Cabin.
