Villiaumitic lujavrite (~1.75 cm across) from the Precambrian of Greenland.
This is a rare intrusive igneous rock with a bizarre name: villiaumitic lujavrite. The dark gray rock itself is lujavrite, a variety of nepheline syenite having amphibole, aegirine pyroxene, nepheline, and feldspar. The red spots in the rock are crystals of the the rare halide mineral villiaumite (NaF - sodium fluoride).
Geologic unit & age: Illímaussaq Complex (Illímaussaq Intrusion; Illímaussaq Alkaline Complex), late Mesoproterozoic, 1.16 Ga
