This biology image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “VNTRexample.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.

Summary

Description
English: This shows a theoretical example of a VNTR in two different individuals. A single strand of DNA from each individual is displayed in which there is tandem repeat sequence that the individuals share. The sequence presence is a VNTR because one individual has five repeats, while the other has seven repeats (number of repeats varies in different individuals) Each repeat is ten nucleotides, making it a minisatellite, rather than a microsatellite in which each repeat is 2-5 nucleotides.
