English: Otsuchi, Iwate, Japan (March 15, 2011) An aerial view of damage to Otsuchi, Iwate, Japan after a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami devastated the area in northern Japan. Ships and aircraft from the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group are conducting search and rescue operations and re-supply missions as directed in support of Operation Tomodachi throughout northern Japan.   • File name is “Wakuya, Japan”, but here is Kirikiri area in Ōtsuchi town. Route 45 runs through the center of this image. The smoke of a fire that occurs in south-side of Otsuchi Port is seen in the other side at the mountain level.


日本語: 岩手県上閉伊郡大槌町(2011年3月15日)。北日本地域を壊滅させたマグニチュード9.0の地震とそれに伴う津波後、大槌町の被害を写した航空写真。ロナルド・レーガン空母打撃群指揮下の艦艇および航空機は、北日本全域に対するトモダチ作戦支援の指示を受け、捜索・救難および再補給任務を実施した。(3等広報官 Alexander Tidd によるアメリカ合衆国海軍写真のリリース)
  • ファイル名は「Wakuya, Japan」となっているが大槌町の吉里吉里地区を写した画像で、中央を走る幅の広い道路は国道45号。山並みの向こうに見える煙は大槌港の南側で発生した火災によるもの。
