| Description |
English: Truro Station, 7 September 2021. The first station on this site was built opened in 1859 by the Cornwall Railway and the following year CR extended its line westwards to join the West Cornwall Railway at its then terminus at Truro Road, the WCR then closing its station, the CR station becoming a joint one managed by both companies. They were taken over by the GWR in 1889 who in 1897 rebuilt the station in its present form in French Second Empire style, a favourite style of the GWR at that time! Pictured is the frontage with typical mansard roofs of that period. |
