DescriptionTriple-gauge track on turntable, Gladstone, South Australia (HSWilliams).jpg
English: Triple-gauge track on turntable, Gladstone, South Australia. In the loco shed are diesel-electric locomotives of the 830 class (left) and the 500 class. The turntable must always present the same positioning of rails at both ends, so all four rails must be symmetrical to the central axis. This is made possible only by reducing the profile of the middle rail on either side.
