English: This true-color image of Severe Tropical Cyclone Trevor was captured on 23 March 2019, at 01:30 UTC or (11:30 AM Northern Territory Local Time), by the Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) instrument flying aboard JMA's Himawari 8 satellite. Trevor was a fairly powerful cyclone that originated from a tropical disturbance east of Papua New Guinea during the 2018-19 Australian Region cyclone season. When this image was captured, Trevor was just off the coast of the Northern Territory. It was at its peak intensity as a Category 3 equivalent cyclone, with winds of 125 mph (201 km/h) (110 knots) on the 1-min Saffir-Simpson scale and winds at or around 110 mph (180 km/h) on the 10-min BoM cyclone scale making it a Category 4 on that scale, also when this image was taken it had minimum central pressure at or around 950 mbar (28.1 inHg). |
