English: Titleplate van "Nieuwe Schouburg", Jan van Gool's 1750 sequel to Arnold Houbraken's "Schouwburg"(1718). This version presents the writers in alphabetical order, rather than birth order, and makes many corrections and additions to the text. Later editions after 1751 do not include the original titlepage plate.
VERKLARING DER TITELPRINT.
DE Waerheit, onder 't oog en opzicht van Minerf, 
Befchryft hier, onvermoeit, de kunft- en levensdaden 
Der Schilderhelden, die, gekroont met lauwerbladen, 
Gequeekt zyn op den gront van Batoos wettig erf; 
En welkers kunftroem door de Faem wordt uitgeblazen: 
Terwyl de Schryffter, met een Zonnekroon bekleet, 
De Nyt en Luiheit, kloek, met haeren voet vertreet: - 
Ten teken , datze niet op dit gefpuis wil azen ; 
Maer liever honig zuigt uit boek- еn briefgeryf; 
Het geen den voorgront dekt,en dat haer, van de braven 
Groothartig toegevoegt, niet weinig in 't befchaven 
Geholpen heeft van dit onfterfelyk gefchryf. 
De Zuil, haer leffenaer, vertoont ons, met wat vlyt 
De Schilder, vadzigheit en welluft heeft te laeken, 
Te vlieden als een peft; оm, ryk van lof, te raeken 
Ter kunjtvolkomenheit, door oeffening en tyt.
