Summary

Description The National Liberal Club was the last major project undertaken by Alfred Waterhouse. I'm told that, when it was completed in 1887, the Club occupied the entire building – a testament to the prominence of the Liberal Party at the time. Its first Chairman was William Ewart Gladstone. The fact that the Club now ony occupies the Whitehall Place end of the building is probably a reflection of the decline of the party over to past 100 years.
