Summary

Description
English: The Holy Thorn, Glastonbury Abbey. This Holy Thorn or "Glastonbury Thorn" is growing to the east of St Patrick's Chapel in the Abbey precinct. It was grown from a cutting of the "miraculous" thorn that flowers twice a year, once at Christmas and once at Easter. Legend says that Joseph of Arimathea stuck his staff in the ground at Glastonbury and it became this type of tree. Plenty of this variety around in the town, many of them have a little sign to attract your attention. The tower over the wall to the right is that of St John's church on the High Street.
