Summary

Description
English: Tay Street from Queens Bridge. The substantial stone buildings of Tay Street, alongside St Matthew's church, look their best in crisp winter sunshine. In the distance is Perth Bridge spanning the river Tay.

It is interesting to compare this with an older view of Tay Street. 339221

The earlier picture was taken after the severe floods of 1993, but before the construction of the new flood defences which replaced the railings alongside Tay Street with flood walls. As part of this work all the mature trees were felled and replaced, and the roadside parking was replaced by a wide pedestrian zone, with an observation platform built right out over the Tay.
