English: Tar distillation plant, Scunthorpe Operated by Koppers, this crude tar processing facility has been at the Scunthorpe site since 1928. It is to the east of Brigg Road, close to the Corus steel making plant. A new tar distillation unit was built in 1992 with a capacity of 90,000 tonnes a year. It produces various grades of petroleum and coal tar pitches for the electrode, carbon and clay pigeon markets.
