Summary

Description
English: Synthesis of di-tert-butyl dicarbonate (Boc anhydride) by Dean Stanley Tarbell et al. in 1977. This file was made with ChemBioDraw Ultra 14. The digital object identifier of the reference is https://dx.doi.org/10.15227/orgsyn.057.0045. This image is intended to replace the original one (File:BOC_anhydride_synthesis.png) made by V8rik. Tarbell et al. started with alcohol-free potassium tert-butoxide instead of tert-butyl alcohol because alcohol-free base was more soluble in tetrahydrofuran and this made the forming of the tricarbonate successful. The typo of the solvent used (C6C6) has been fixed to C6H6. THF = tetrahydrofuran, cat = catalytic, rt = room temperature.
