Summary

Description
English: This map depicts which state governments exercise their right to maintain a State Defense Force under the authority of Title 32, Section 109, of the United States Code. Most states depicted in red (inactive) had an active State Defense Force during World War I, World War II, or the Korean War. State Defense Forces only operate within their state and assist with disaster response efforts, missing person searches, and other duties assigned by their Governor.
