English: 1. This monument is of Dr Piero Corti (RIGHT) an Italian pediatrician who arrived in Lacor in 1961, through competence devotion and hard work he developed this hospital founded by the comboni missionaries in 1959
2. Dr Lucille Teasdale Corti(CENTER) who was a Canadian surgeon who also arrived in Lacor in 1961 she treated four generations of Ugandans and operated on thousands before contracting HIV while on duty in the theater 3. Dr Mathew Lukwiya(LEFT) began practicing medicine in 1983 his outstanding qualities led him to become a medical superintendent and designated successor to the Corti team, in the year 2000 he directed the fight against Ebola, he and 12 staff out of 100 hospital staff who risked their lives in assisting patients died in the fight against Ebola virus after contracting the virus |
