DescriptionSouthern aspect of St Catherine's Hill, Winchester - geograph.org.uk - 25665.jpg
English: Southern aspect of St Catherine's Hill, Winchester. Looking north at the bowl-shaped St Catherine's Hill from the shade of the Itchen Way footpath. This side of the hill has a set of over 300 steps to limit erosion. The bank and counterscarp bank of the hillfort's defences are not obvious from this angle, and the original iron-age entrance was round the other side of the hill which has a less steep approach.
