Small Square-headed Brooch
Description
English: Rectangular head-plate with raised moulding, flattened on the surface. Within the moulding a single raised line follows the same outline; in the centre is a curving abstract motif. Gently arched bow with median vertical ridge. Expanded foot, tapering in slightly to missing foot-plate; within a central lozenge-shaped moulding enclosing a smaller solid lozenge. Moulded curving lines in upper quadrants follow the slightly concave edge of lozenge. Much gilding survives on upper surface. Single hinge, trace of iron corrosion. Catchplate broken.
